Year 5, 6 and 7 “Concours d’art oratoire” club
The Prep French Language Acquisition Department is inviting Year 5, 6 and 7 students interested in developing their French writing and presentation skills to join the “Concours d’art oratoire” club. Each student in the club will work with a teacher coach on developing a written speech about a subject of interest to him using the writing process, as well as memorization and presentation techniques. Three students per category criteria (core, extended, immersion, FSL plus) per grade will then be selected to represent Upper Canada College at the 2019-2020 Board Level Competition of the Concours d’art oratoire of Independent Schools. This French public speaking event will be held at the Toronto Montessori School on Feb. 27, 2020, and parents are welcome to attend to watch their son present and to support our Prep boys.
Please note that any students choosing to participate in the Prep Winter Musical will not be able to participate in this club due to a major event scheduling conflict.
Students will meet with their teacher coach starting the week of Nov. 4:
- Year 5 students will meet on Day 7 from 3:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- Year 6 and 7 students will meet between 8 a.m. -8:25 a.m., dates will be scheduled with their teacher coach
If your son is interested in participating in the “Concours d’art oratoire” club, please email Mlle Brunelle at email@example.com with your son’s full name and Form. Please ensure that your son understands that he will need to commit to regular club meetings between Nov. 4, 2019 and Feb. 26, 2020, and work on his speech during club time and at home.
