Winter sports team tryouts will begin immediately following the November long weekend. The senior house advisers are very proud of every boarder who played football, soccer, volleyball, ran cross country or rowed for the College. There were early morning practices and late evening matches; there were Friday Night Lights games and Saturday afternoon games; there were games on the UCC Oval and in Aurora, Port Hope, St. Catharines and Oakville.

There were some great achievements during the fall sports season and plenty of new friendships were developed while travelling on the buses and competing as teammates. We look forward to seeing many more exciting sports events in the pool, the Wilder Arena, the Lett Gymnasium, community squash courts and at rowing “ergatta” competitions around the province.

The following teams will be holding tryouts at multiple age levels beginning Tuesday, Nov. 11:

Basketball
Hockey
Rowing
Squash
Swimming

Your son should not worry about the possibility of being cut; if he has a passion for one of these sports, he should attend a tryout. If the sport is new and he has an interest, he should go to the tryout. The swim team will not cut any athletes that make the full commitment to practises; the rowing team also carries a large number of athletes. Many students won’t have had previous experience. Best of luck to everyone who can’t wait to get the winter sports season moving.
