Varsity football hosts TCS on the Oval
On October 27, a beautiful fall afternoon, UCC hosted Trinity College School. The game was a see-saw battle from the opening kickoff. The game was in doubt until the final minutes, with both teams exhibiting excellent offense and stellar defense. Unfortunately, UCC ran out of time; it was one of those games where the last team with the ball was likely to win.
The entertainment value was superior — it was so good to see football games being played again on the Oval. UCC boarders were prominent from every vantage point imaginable.
Congratulations to coaches: Mr. Brown (Seaton’s), Mr. Heffernan (Wedd’s) and Mr. McCubbin (Wedd’s) for pulling together the veteran talent, and teaching many new boarders all facets of the game.
Congratulations also to our boarders who have been working hard at practice and in the games to date: Jensen Howe, Charles Price, Musa Salman, Azi Schwartz, Connor Taylor, Salam Gueye, Abdullah Asuni and Aly Mulyukov.
Thanks also to the boarders who were part of the support team to make this game happen: Sehaj Lidder spent the game high above the field recording video that will help our coaches prepare the team for the next game. Thanks also to George Long, Rayan Abboud and Luca Kane for manning the yardsticks throughout the game.
In total, 15 boarders actively supported a great afternoon game, and that does include Mr. Brent MacKay (Seaton’s) for his work as athletic director to schedule the game and organize the referees — it takes a village to support a great fall rivalry with Trinity College School.
