Update | PYP Exhibition

Year 5 students are digging deep into their Exhibition research. So far students have inquired into questions they have written connected to the key concepts of form, function, causation, change and connection. In some cases, groups are already writing perspective questions and examining a variety of points of view. At this point, they may begin to discover “stakeholders” connected to the issues they are studying.

You may want to ask your child about their learning to date. Here are some conversation starters:

  • How’s it going so far? (Chat about group name, agreements, progress, and who is inquiring into what.) 
  • Tell me about your learning so far  (What’s the coolest thing? What’s the most surprising thing? What is it making you think about?)
  • Who else cares about your issue? (Have you found any organizations working to solve the problem?)
  • What is being done to help your issue so far?)

Students may share with you their learning log entries on SeeSaw as well and we hope you will have rich Exhibition-related conversations at home.

In the weeks ahead, students will begin to consolidate and synthesize their learning into key findings. This will help in the creation of their slideshow to share learning as well as their group’s webpage development. Creating group-developed central ideas is also on the near term horizon.

Remember to mark May 14 on your calendar, as we will share learning on this day. Details about timing and format will be forthcoming.
