Update | Primary music
Dear Prep families,
We hope that you enjoyed the first month of 2021! According to the Chinese zodiac, 2021 is the year of ox which symbolizes diligence, persistence and honesty. Students in Primary music have worked very hard to reflect those characteristics.
A benefit of learning from home is that we can sing and play instruments. SK to Year 3 students have definitely been taking advantage of this! Students are singing songs that incorporate different body percussion and changes of voice. In particular, students enjoy singing a song called Thunder Drums that invites them to clap or rub their hands, snap their fingers and stomp their feet to play the assigned rhythmic patterns. They even get to make wind blowing sounds and howl like a wolf!
Year 4 students continue to play their recorders. Students are practising O Canada and the Star Wars theme song. They are expanding their range and are able to play various notes using the fingering chart and the diagram. Students are focusing on playing the middle C and D notes with good tone quality.
Year 5 students are making excellent progress with their ukulele techniques. They are expanding the chord range and are able to use different strumming patterns. It is very impressive to see and hear them taking on the challenge of singing while they play their ukuleles while practising up-beat songs such as YMCA and Count on Me.
