University admission rep visits
During lunch periods and after school during the fall term, Year 11 and 12 students have plenty of opportunities to listen and learn from a host of university representative visitors. On Tuesday, October 15, three universities visited UCC:
- Western University (London, Ontario)
- University of Miami (Coral Gables, Fla)
- Emerson College (Boston, Mass)
Andy Wang (Wedd’s Y12), William Uk (Seaton’s Y12) and Bassem Sandeela (Seaton’s Y12) were among the thirty students who attended the Western rep visit at lunch. During the visit, students watched an introductory video, learned valuable information about the application process, gathered important information regarding the wide variety of program choices available, and learned about the co-curricular and study abroad opportunities available at Western.
In the afternoon, one student turned up to meet the senior associate director of admission at the university of Miami. That student secured a full hour to meet and talk to the person at UMiami who will be reading his Common Application essay. That student learned about the faculty of architecture, and the director of admission learned about that student. The university counselling office recommends that all students take advantage of the opportunity to learn first-hand from visiting university reps. It takes planning to create the time to attend the sessions, but boys will be making an investment of four years to their university of choice. A little planning will go a long way to finding a good school fit.
