UCC is number one at Model United Nations conference

I attended the SSUNS MUN conference at McGill University in Montreal from Nov. 12 to 15 as part of a team of 20 UCC delegates.

Our team was named best large delegation for the third year in a row at this conference. Thirteen students, including myself, received gavels for our skills and achievements.

I was in the UN General Assembly – South American session, where we discussed topics ranging from the refugee crisis to abortion rights for women. Although this committee focused on South America, every country was represented. I represented St. Vincent, a small Caribbean island with a population of approximately 100,000 people. This made the committee especially challenging, as it was extremely difficult to gain influence with countries such as the United States and China also represented. I thoroughly enjoyed the conference and working with other delegates from around Canada and the U.S. to write resolutions solving real world issues.

The team of UCC boys was fantastic and I look forward to joining them again at another MUN conference.
