UCC Club Blue Note Jazz Cafe a great success
The fourth annual UCC Club Blue Note was held with much excitement on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The Student Centre at the Upper School was completely transformed into a jazz club with candlelight ambience, coffee and dessert. Decorating the area were fabulous artworks of the boys’ musical instruments, drawn by the Form 7 students.
Highly accomplished performances were put on by the Form 7 Jazz Band and the Upper School Jazz Bands. The Form 7 Jazz Band played a repertoire of fine jazz tunes showcasing the band’s many talents and soloists, conducted by their inspirational and dedicated teacher, Paul McGarr. To hear what the boys have accomplished, in such a short time, is nothing short of remarkable. This exciting evening followed a full day of jazz clinics and improvisation sessions, and a stunning performance by the University of Toronto Big Band. It was a wonderful, fun-filled day of culture and music.
Special thanks to Nancy Preston for organizing the artwork and Kathryn Edmondson for co-ordinating the event.
