UCC charity car wash supports Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahamas

On September 22nd UCC and Havergal boarders spent the day running a charity car wash at the north end of campus. The students washed a lot of cars, and in what turned out to be a beautiful day, many people traveling in the vicinity of UCC donated to the worthy cause.

The boarders from both schools decided that money raised (an impressive $830) should go to the Canadian Red Cross effort supporting the Hurricane Dorian relief effort in the Bahamas. Boarders come to UCC from 25 countries; these students all realize that natural disaster could happen anywhere in the world. It was an easy decision for students to decide to spend Sunday raising money to help support a country facing such immense challenge.

Many thanks to Mr. Edgar Friars for helping organize all the equipment necessary to run the event. Also many thanks to Ms. Emma Kanga, Mr. Jon Heffernan and Ms. Amina DeVries for organizing the event. The students worked hard all day; many people watching the event in action commented on the way everyone pulled together as a team.
