Heads Up

Welcome to Heads Up, your one-stop source for news about your son’s upcoming activities and events.

Support Services at the Prep

In addition to individual support provided by the Nurse, Counsellor and Centre for Learning faculty this term, we have also started a number of group programs at the Prep.  These groups provide students with an opportunity to take a break during their busy week, build positive social connections, learn a new skill and hopefully, have some fun!

Currently, there are drop-in group activities available to students in Years 3-7.

In Year 3 a Games Club runs during lunch and lunch recess.

Students signed up in September and were divided into small groups, which meet on different days, providing for a mix of students from both Year 3 classes and old and new students.  We eat lunch together and then have time to play. As this group winds up, students will be able to sign up for a Lego Club which will start in a couple of weeks and will run the same way.

Year 4 and 5 students are invited to come by the dining hall on Friday morning recess for Games Mania.

Games Mania is a drop in program where boys can connect while playing board and card games or while building with Lego.  Students can also bring in their own games to play.

Year 6 and 7 also have a Games Mania time at morning recess on Mondays.

A Chillax’n group has also just started on Wednesdays.

Chillax’n time is set aside for quiet activities.  Students who appreciate a quieter break in their day can come read, draw, colour, listen to music, rest or try some mindfulness exercises.

In addition to these groups, the Year 6 and 7 Art room is open for Art Club during morning recess for students to create with a variety of materials and on Thursdays for a Drop In and Draw, a time for them to sketch or draw.

We all recharge in different ways and these activities are available to provide different kinds of breaks for students.  If your son is interested in participating, remind him to listen to the announcements and to look for the flyer in his classroom for information.
