Seaton’s and Scadding’s squared off in a house soccer game on Lord’s Field on Oct. 14.

The quality of play was strong as Seaton’s held on to a one-goal lead at the end of the first half. Stronger determination and an elevated level of team play resulted in five unanswered second half goals, and an eventual 7-2 Seaton’s victory when the final whistle sounded.

Coach Cody MacCrae barked out team strategy from the sidelines while keeper Kyungphil Ko made some strong saves and often punted the ball well out of harm’s way when scrambles occurred in the crease area. The aggressive play to clear loose balls by Victor Pang, Yuan Kong and Ayser Choudhury often nullified potential scoring opportunities. Impressive passing and shooting by Alex Osipov, Juan Gomez, Matt Baker and Jake Gamoyda led to some highlight reel goals.

House sports are intended to build camaraderie amongst house members, allow an opportunity to unwind at the end of a busy school day and enable boys to enter into friendly competition while getting to know peers in day houses. The Seaton’s team looks to be a formidable force and, with the playoffs are just around the corner, valuable Prefect’s Cup points are up for grabs. It will be fun to watch Seaton’s and Wedd’s battle for on-campus soccer supremacy in the weeks to come.
