Return IB2 student Macbook Pro laptops to IT by May 25
This letter is to inform you of the process for returning the Macbook Pro laptop, with the correct Apple power supply, at the end of your IB2 son’s exams. Unfortunately, due to the nature of our leases, the laptops are not available for purchase. The boys are responsible to get all of their personal data off of the computer before it’s dropped off. The Help Desk hours are 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and we’d be happy to receive the laptop during these times. It’s expected that the laptop has remained in the protective case and no damage has been incurred Any damage found on the computer, however, will be billed to your UCC account. The Damage Protection Program will still apply. You must also hand in a working Apple power supply. The cost for the replacement power supply is $95 and, if necessary, your account will be billed accordingly.
We ask that the laptop is dropped off between your son’s final exam and 3 p.m. on Monday, May 25. This is the day of the Leaving Class Ceremony. It can, of course, be dropped off anytime before May 25. Failure to meet this deadline could mean being charged the full replacement amount of the computer. If you’ve any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. LaPlante by email, email@example.com, or at extension 3326.
It’s important we get these machines back in a timely manner. We need to prepare them for distribution to the Grade 7s entering Year 1. That happens before the end of May so they need to come back immediately after the end of exams. Timing is crucial so we ask you to start preparing now for this transition. Your son needs to plan to move all documents onto a hard drive or transfer to a new computer. The onus is on students to prepare so they can ensure the laptop is brought to IT no later than 3 p.m. on Monday, May 25.
Please note that your son’s UCC Google Apps for Education account will remain active until October 30, 2015. This is done to give the graduates time to move their important documents off of Google Drive and ensure that any important email connections have been informed of their new contact information. This should give them more than enough time to deal with the transition.
A note will be sent to their UCC email account in the middle of October to remind them of the deactivation.
Congratulations to your son on completing his studies at Upper Canada College and I thank you for your consideration in this matter.
