Project Sunshine Fundraiser this month
Many families in the world have difficulties due to continuous medical challenges. We’ve chosen to donate to one of these charities. Project Sunshine is an international, non-profit, charitable organization that provides free creative, educational, recreational and social programs to children who have medical challenges.
They work with teens in schools as well as other community organizations to create programs that help families with continual stress due to medical challenges. They’ve helped 100,000 children facing medical difficulties and their families internationally. In fact, since 2012, they’ve supported 20,000 families in Ontario and Quebec alone. Project Sunshine has more than 15,000 volunteers that donate their time to help make these programs possible. Their programs include: arts and crafts, reading, tutoring and mentorship, caregiver wellness and special events like birthday parties.
Since Project Sunshine is such a great organization, we decided to help them. This month we’ll be doing a fundraiser and collection drive for Project Sunshine. This will end on May 31.
Everyone from SK to Grade 2 is asked to bring in new books to donate to Project Sunshine. The hospital will only accept new boys, as per strict sanitation rules. These books will help distract kids from hospital routines and put a smile on their faces. Form 3 to 7 will be participating in an action initiative called Change for Change, where each student will be given a ziploc bag to make choices about what they want or need over one month. Instead of using money to buy something for themselves, they could put the money in the bag for Project Sunshine. They can also ask their parents for change, after they’ve purchased something.
Our goal is to raise at least $10 each for Form 3 to 5, and $20 each for Form 6 and 7. If you have any questions, please email Courtney Hogan at email@example.com. We can’t wait to see how much money we’ll raise and how many books we bring in!
