Programs for high-achieving students at Western
Western University offers two programs designed to cater to the needs of high-achieving students. Both require a high school academic average of 90 percent or higher. The Scholar’s Electives program offers highly motivated, self-directed students the opportunity to design their own interdisciplinary academic experience within various faculties. Students in this program have the chance to develop and conduct research with a faculty mentor starting in first year. Interested students must click on the Scholar’s Electives button on the OUAC application and fill out a supplemental application that is available here; the deadline for the supplement is February 14.
Students entering Western with an average of 90% or above are eligible for the Western Scholars program. Members of this honour society participate in service learning initiatives and special events throughout the year; they are also mentored by academics within the Western community. No special application is required.
