Parent event | Finding the balance between food and exercise

The Parents’ and Prep Parents’ Organizations invite you to attend Finding the balance between food and exercise on Wednesday, February 10 at 7 p.m. EST. This special presentation by the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) includes parents, clinicians and youth with lived experience of an eating disorder, who will discuss strategies for supporting your family’s relationship with eating, exercise and body image.

Some key statistics:

  • Thirty per cent of girls and 25 per cent of boys ages 10 to 14 in Ontario who are at a healthy weight are dieting.
  • Appearance is the most common reason for childhood teasing.
  • Across Canada, 30 to 34 per cent of girls and 23 to 25 per cent of boys presenting across clinical and non-clinical settings report disordered eating symptoms.
