Norval “Maple Madness” on Sun, March 22
As days grow warm and sunny and winter gives way to spring, it’s a sure bet that maple syrup season is right around the corner. Find out more about how sap is transformed into syrup at a maple syrup open house on Sun, March 22 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Norval Outdoor School.
Visitors have the chance to tour the sugar bush and learn how trees are tapped to collect sap using buckets and tubes. They can also see an evaporator demonstration and learn how sap is boiled into syrup. Sap, syrup and maple fudge tastings will be offered. Pancakes and sausages with Norval maple syrup, plus an assortment of other goodies, will be served in Stephen House. Admission is free. All members of the UCC community are welcome and free to bring family and friends. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Remember to wear appropriate footwear for walking outdoors.
Take Highway 401 west to Winston Churchill Boulevard. Follow Winston Churchill Boulevard north and go through the Village of Norval. Continue straight ahead. The entrance to the Norval property is on your left, 1.2 km north of the village stoplight. The drive takes about 50 minutes from UCC in light traffic.
