New info and tools for families applying for financial assistance
The Saturday, Nov. 21 deadline for 2016-2017 financial assistance applications for UCC families is quickly approaching.
Current parents must apply or re-apply by the deadline so the College can ensure that all returning student applications are assessed and decisions made before you’re required to make a re-registration decision early in 2016.
Financial assistance applications are processed by Financial Aid for Canadian Students (FACS). This third-party service continues to provide independent assessment services and makes confidential recommendations directly to the College’s financial aid review committee. Awards are made to eligible families on the basis of assessed need and may vary from year to year. You can complete the application online at www.applefinancialservices.ca. The application fee is $100.
UCC and FACS are providing new information and tools this year to help parents with the financial assistance application process.
The College’s finance office, in collaboration with information technology services, has developed an interactive financial assistance profiler that uses current data to help day families determine whether or not they may qualify for financial assistance. The data is also available in an at-a-glance table format. Both of these tools, along with a “Frequently Asked Questions” section around the application process, are available on the Financial Assistance page of the UCC website.
Some changes to the FACS website and application this year include: a new PowerPoint tutorial; document downloads that provide offline help; and additional form questions to enhance understanding of all families’ financial situations.
