Need community service ideas for your son?
While the holidays is a great time for spending with family, it’s also a good time to get organized for the upcoming term. Encourage your son to investigate his community service options. Each week an email is sent to the boys listing various opportunities in the local area. For example, last week the boys received this email.
1. Brown Public School is looking for students who can come during their spare, or on Wednesday late-start days, to volunteer in the library. Brown is located about a 10-minute walk straight down Avenue Road just south of St. Clair. Please contact Jill Kelsall at firstname.lastname@example.org
2. Out of the Cold Program is looking for volunteers Thursday evenings after school. Sign up for a few hours or stay for the evening. It is an inter-faith program and is located at St. Matthews Church (St. Clair West at Ruston Road, west of Christie). Sign up here for any times/dates that interest you. Grab a friend or your parents and go. Learn more here.
3. Over 16+ Only: Habitat Build on Friday, Feb. 2 during PT Interview Day. Mr. Verboom and I will be taking 10 boys to a build site. Dress warmly. Only 10 students/people permitted (parents invited as well!). Come and spend the day with your son. Sign up here. Please encourage your son to take a chance and try something new or sign up for something he already enjoys. As always he can come and see me (Deirdre Timusk) he has any questions.
