Donate your toiletries to the Mother’s Day Project
Mothers around Toronto will celebrate Mother’s Day with their families on May 10, 2015. But for hundreds of moms in the city, it’ll be a day spent with their children in the safety of women’s shelters.
The boys of Upper Canada College want these mothers to celebrate the day with their children. To accomplish this, they’re again organizing a campaign to collect small toiletry items to be packaged and delivered to selected shelters on Mother’s Day.
The boys need our help to collect those hotel soaps, shampoos and body lotions made available to us during hotel stays. Over the holiday break, many families will be travelling and we would appreciate it if you could collect these toiletries.
A Mother’s Day box will be set up in the lobby of the Upper School on Tuesday, Jan. 6 to drop off all items collected. For those of you not travelling, you too can support our cause by purchasing toiletries from local pharmacies and cosmetic departments or re-gifting any items you may receive as presents. Any items that a mom would enjoy to pamper herself are welcome.
If you’ve any connections to pharmacies or hotels that may be interested in donating some of these items to this drive please contact Vivien Cappe, via email or at 416-483-8239.
Due to the generosity of our community and vendors, we provided over 800 gift bags for Mother’s Day this year. The children were so excited to have something to give their mothers and their mothers were brought to tears knowing that so many kind strangers cared so much. In addition, we were able to provide bags to women who arrived at the shelters over the following weeks and donated boxes of items to New Circles Community Service, which supports more than 3,000 families in the community living in poverty.
On behalf of the boys of UCC, we thank you for your support.
