Heads Up

Welcome to Heads Up, your one-stop source for news about your son’s upcoming activities and events.

Message from the Head of the Preparatory School

Dear Prep Families,

Thank you for your ongoing engagement and support. We have two exciting weeks planned for the close out of our 2021 year.

As you are already aware, our Year 7 classes are going to have a “pilot” outdoors activity with Year 7 students from BSS, organized by our amazing Norval colleagues, with the intention of building that relationship further in future. A recording from this week’s UCC/BSS co-produced assembly is available here. Other grade levels will have colour house activities on the same day; more on this to come for students in SK–Year 6.

Pizza lunches are being organized by our parents and the Prep Parents’ Organization; these lunches will take place tomorrow, Friday, for all students SK–Year 7 in partnership with Aramark. Juice and chips are also being provided. It is not necessary to bring a lunch on that day unless there are allergy or food contents concerns — or, reach out to Aramark to ensure they have allergy and food contents information for your child. Parents who have ordered school lunches will be reimbursed by Aramark.

We would ask individual families to please avoid sending in additional treats on the last week of school. We are a fortunate community and our students are well supported and happy; we would prefer that you engage in our clothing drive, which started this week, or share your resources with another family or community in need.

Please enjoy the recordings of our Primary assembly, as well as the Year 7 co-curricular assembly from this past week.

A few quick reminders:

  • Update on local auto and pedestrian traffic: another study of the intersection of Lonsdale and Avenue Road will be conducted in January of 2022.
  • Although there is currently no indication that the province will close schools in January, we wish to be prudent. Therefore, we are planning to send home materials for a fully remote learning circumstance. Should we return to campus in January please be sure that your child brings all materials back.
  • With our thanks, please keep our Health Centre updated as your child’s vaccination status changes in the coming weeks.
  • As we approach the winter break, remember our early dismissal on Friday, Dec. 17. The ASP program will be offered from 11:40 a.m. until 6 p.m. If you require this service, please send an email to both ekanga@ucc.on.ca and aspsupervisor@ucc.on.ca.

Please stay safe and well,

Tanya Sweeney
