Heads Up

Welcome to Heads Up, your one-stop source for news about your son’s upcoming activities and events.

Message from Tanya Sweeney, Head, Preparatory School

Dear Prep families,

We have come to the end of September and are feeling good about how things have begun. With so many new routines and most aspects of life taking longer or taking place differently than we’re accustomed to, it takes a great deal of brain energy and patience. We have recently named Jyoti Seghal as our Coordinator of Remote Learning and will share more information as to how she will be supporting remote learners, their families and teachers in an upcoming communication. We appreciate your patience and with each passing day are feeling better and more familiar with our new school routines.

In the coming weeks, we will be doing further analysis on our usual events and activities to determine if they can proceed, and if so, how. Please keep an eye on the calendar as well as the list of upcoming dates to be aware of at the end of this weekly message. We will also begin to post dates on sandwich boards outside the Prep.

We will begin to explore how we may celebrate Hallowe’en safely and will offer further information soon. For now, the family calendar indicates that Friday, October 30 is a Prep Casual Dress Day.

A reminder that our After School Programming (ASP) is only for families who have pre-registered; this is to ensure we have accurate information for contact tracing. Should you be running late to pick up your student, they will remain with their Form Adviser at the designated entry/exit door for 15 minutes after their dismissal time. They will then make their way to the ASP Designated Meeting Spot, indicated by a large yellow sign outdoors on the ‘wood chips area’ near the Parkin building.

Once 15 minutes after your designated dismissal time has passed, our ASP staff will supervise your unregistered student in this outdoor area until you arrive. There will be a charge of $25 to your account for the extended supervision. This new charge to your account began on Monday, September 21.

Pre-registered ASP students’ families are charged $7.50 per half hour or $15 per hour. Pre-registered students will move immediately to the arena lounge for programming.

Here is the link for ASP Weekly Registration.

Families of students in Years 5, 6 and 7 may indicate to the Form Adviser in writing (an email will suffice) that their child can travel home independently.

With our continued appreciation for your collaborative spirit,

Tanya Sweeney
Head of the Preparatory School
