Heads Up

Welcome to Heads Up, your one-stop source for news about your son’s upcoming activities and events.

Technology Change started this week

We’d like to inform you of a change that began this week.

After several weeks of observation and data collection, and a consultative process with our faculty members, the Preparatory School Leadership Team, working with our Technology Integrators, has made adjustments to the times and spaces in which our Year 6 and Year 7 students may use their laptops.

Year 6 and 7 students arriving at school 7:30 to 8 a.m.  may use their laptops in the Bitove Lounge. At 8:00 a.m., Form Advisers are in their classrooms and the Wilder Library is open. Students will then be asked to move to those supervised areas.

From 3:30-5 p.m., if students have work they wish to do work on their laptops, they may do so, under supervision, in the Wilder Library or in the Centre for Learning. They may no longer use their laptops in the Bitove Lounge during this time period.

Year 6 or 7 students waiting in the Bitove Lounge from 5 to 6 p.m. may use their laptops. Parents, please note that Year 6 and 7 students are not supervised after 5 p.m.

We’ll provide some simple and engaging games in the Bitove Lounge for students to engage in, i.e. checkers, etc., while they wait for pick-up at end of day. Students will be expected to tidy up these materials after using them.

If you’ve any questions, please feel welcome to contact me. Please see the table below as it may help to clarify these new procedures.

Thank you,
Tanya Sweeney tsweeney@ucc.on.ca
