Heads Up

Welcome to Heads Up, your one-stop source for news about your son’s upcoming activities and events.

Message from Principal Sam McKinney

Sam photo 2Dear parents,

I hope this message finds you enjoying a break from the busyness of the school year. The summer certainly provides a wonderful opportunity to slow the pace down and share quality time with family and friends.

As I write this note, I sit behind a new desk, in a new office, at an extraordinary school, in a city that’s feeling more familiar each day. The return of our family to Canada couldn’t be progressing more smoothly and we’re feeling more settled each day. The College is alive with activity with the summer camp program in full swing.n the few short weeks that I’ve been in my role, I’ve appreciated the opportunity to meet people from all areas of the College community. I look forward to September and to the opportunity to welcome our boys and families with the same warmth that so many at the College have already welcomed me. Whether you’re a new or returning family, I’m certain you know that UCC is an extraordinary place.

I believe fully in the importance of communication within a school community. To that end, I want to highlight the importance of familiarizing yourself with the content contained within the weekly publication to parents called Heads Up, delivered to your email inbox every Thursday starting Sept. 1.

Heads Up provides important information about upcoming events, including permission forms and contact details, and is a valuable tool to assist you in being informed about your son’s experience at the College. This “summer mailing” is a special issue of Heads Up and is a must-read. It contains a wide array of detailed information including back-to-school orientation details from our deans of students at the Prep and Upper schools, David Girard and Evan Williams, who already sent this information earlier in the summer.

Before we know it, September will be upon us and the boys will be returning to school. Until then, please enjoy the final weeks of summer. I look forward to meeting you in person very soon.

With my very best wishes,

Sam McKinney
