Message from Form 3
The following weeks are very busy for Form 3 students so, parents, please consider the potential impact for after-school activities. The Norval staff will be coming to the Form 3 classrooms on Tuesday, May, 19 in the afternoon. Form 3C students will go on an extended trip to Norval on Wednesday, May 20. We’ll return to UCC at approximately 7:15 p.m (traffic dependent). Form 3F students will go to Norval for an extended day trip on Thursday, May 21. Please be prompt in your pick up (time to be determined).
We continue to practise our multiplication and division facts, with timed quizzes each Monday and Friday. Please use the practice packages sent home as a resource to solidify the automaticity of these facts. We’re working through unit 9 which continues to explore concepts in multiplication.
In our inquiry unit, “Why Here?” we’ve worked on developing our narrative writing skills. The boys have used the writing process to create a narrative about their own family history, based on the interviews they conducted with family members. These beautiful projects will be shared during Grandparent’s Day on Thursday, May 28.
You’ll also be receiving Math Journal 1 and Math Journal 2. We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure we’ve completed all the necessary pages but you’ll certainly find math boxes incomplete and some journal pages that would be beneficial to complete. Your Mathletics account will remain active during the summer. Please take advantage of this opportunity and continue to work on your skills. Continue to drill the times tables if your child has not yet achieved mastery; you’ll need to help him reach this standard over the summer.
We have the following exciting May events to look forward to:
May 15 – Prep Games Day – Dismissal at 11:40 a.m. (no ASP is available)
May 19 – The Norval staff will work with Form 3s in the afternoon in preparation for the upcoming Norval trip.
May 20 – 3C at Norval – extended day (arrival back to UCC at 7:15 p.m.)
May 21 – 3F at Norval – extended day (arrival back to UCC at 7:15 p.m.)
Thank you for your support.
Ms. Crippin and Mr. Ferley
