All boys in Year 9 are to pass the Ontario Literacy Test as a requirement for successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. It’s scheduled for Tuesday, April 10 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Hewitt Athletic Centre. Boys are asked to arrive by 8:15 a.m. For boys with testing accommodations, the test begins at 8 a.m. in CC3/302. Further details are in this section of Heads Up.

The Year 8 Norval trip is scheduled for the week of Monday, April 23 to Friday, April 27. In preparation for this outdoor adventure, there will be communication outlining the week, activities, paperwork, waivers and other important matters. This is a mandatory component in Year 8, so please mark your calendars. Look for more information in future editions of Heads Up. Please contact Norval Outdoor School director Bill Elgie or me if you have any questions. All Year 8 boys are required to attend a presentation on bringing the proper clothing and footwear in preparation for Norval week on Wednesday, April 11 from 8:30 to 9:20 a.m. in the lecture theatre.

College holidays, as noted in the Upper School calendar, are generous. Please be sure your travel plans for all school breaks honour scheduled class time and exams when applicable. Classes end on March 8 at 3:30 p.m. and resume on March 26 at 8:30 a.m.

Cleaning out of book and house lockers is an important and mandatory task for all students at the end of each term. Boys are required to remove all possessions from their lockers and take home all belongings. Lockers not cleaned out will be emptied by housekeeping staff and the College won’t be responsible for its contents. Having empty lockers allows housekeeping to clean and sanitize all lockers. This is a health and safety requirement. Please remind your sons to do as asked.

Best wishes for a safe, enjoyable and restful March break.
