Message from Andrew Turner, residential life director

Andrew Turner photoThe next two weeks will prove to be particularly challenging for IB2 students.

The economics exam is on Friday, Dec. 4 and a steady stream of exams will continue the next week. IB and Foundation Year exams will conclude on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Some changes in the normal routine of boarders have been adopted to help them make their way through the exam period. In a previous Boarding Life article, I mentioned the workshops hosted by Jody McLean and Mary Gauthier in the Wernham and West Centre for Learning.

Beginning Saturday, Dec. 5, we’ll offer a special continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. in the Seaton’s and Wedd’s common rooms. A 10:30 a.m. brunch in the Upper School dining hall is usually offered as the first meal of the day. The brunch option will continue and we’ll offer the breakfast option on Sunday, Dec. 6 as well as the following weekend.

Weekend evening curfew has also been changed for the next two weekends. All boys are required to be in their respective houses by 10 p.m. Year 2 boys will need to have lights out by 11 p.m. Every boarder will need to be in his own room by
11 p.m. IB students will be allowed to study as long as they please, but we encourage boys to sleep earlier and rise earlier until exams are complete.

We’ll return with a short Boarding Life next week that will give everyone a little feedback from students on the first week of exams.
