Message from Andrew Turner, residential life director
From New to Blue orientation through to the Thanksgiving long weekend, there’s been much happening on campus for new and veteran boarders. The learning curve has been steep for new students and I hope your son is feeling well supported by house advisors and fellow students.
No doubt new parents have heard comments about the jump in academic expectations from the previous school. Veteran parents have likely also been hearing about increased classroom expectations from the previous school year. We’re very pleased with the new “supervised study” routine in the boarding community. Jody McLean believes many boys are becoming much more efficient with their evening study time, and it’s hoped that will lead to strong subject results and improved capacity for juggling co-curricular commitments and weekend program opportunities.
Several athletic teams are into the home stretch toward playoffs and there should be
plenty of excitement for rowers, cross-country runners, and football, soccer and
volleyball players in the days and weeks to come. We wish all boarders luck and
remind all boys that tryouts for winter term sports will start at the beginning of
The clubs program is also in full swing. Boys are welcome to remain with
the same club throughout the entire school year, but they can also make changes if
they’re learning about other opportunities that catch their eye.
I hope you enjoy the photos of boys making good use of their free time.
