Message from Andrew Turner, Director, Residential Life
Today’s Boarding Life is full of great stories. A charity carwash makes everyone feel good about the strength of a cohesive community. To be able to raise $475 in a short period of time speaks volumes about the determination of a group of students coming together to support the Red Cross, an organization that actively champions the needs of people in all corners of the world.
For boarders, the Leaving Class ceremony recognizes academic accomplishment, but more importantly, it represents a defining moment in friendships that will last a lifetime. Twenty boys in Seaton’s and Wedd’s have lived together for as little as two years and as many as four. They’ve celebrated and commiserated together. They arrived at UCC as adolescent strangers. They depart as young adults knowing they will never walk alone.
In closing, I want to thank every parent for making the huge leap of faith to trust the UCC boarding community as such an important component in the development of your son. We know you’ve trusted us with your most cherished possession; we hope we’ve played a role in helping your son grow to appreciate the sacrifice you’ve made for their future.
