Message from Andrew Turner, Director, Residential Life

It’s been a busy term for UCC boarders. The academic workload has challenged students from Year 2 to IB2. And an abundance of co-curricular opportunities has opened new and exciting opportunities for some boys and challenged them all to fine-tune their time management and organizational skills.

I’ve been especially impressed with the leadership demonstrated by senior level students. They continue to set a strong example in the classroom and participate in a wide variety of service, leadership and athletic opportunities. The example they’ve set for younger students is truly one of the strengths of the boarding program. It’s not uncommon to see IB students assisting younger students with homework and test preparation during evening study. This week I walked into new boy’s room, Owen Meunier on the third floor of Seaton’s, and witnessed Victor Pang offering extra help in math. This sort of leadership or service to others is not recorded anywhere; it’s simply an example of the sort of camaraderie that makes boarding strong.

It takes a village to raise a UCC boarder. I want to thank the team of people that goes the extra mile to ensure every boy is receiving the support needed to reach his goals inside and outside the classroom. It’s been a busy term; on behalf of all parents, I want to thank the following staff members that assume such valuable roles in the lives of boarders:
