Message from Andrew Turner, Director, Residential Life
Boys have been working hard to establish a routine for success in the classroom. They’ve joined teams, theatre productions, bands and clubs, and have been involved in a variety of weekend activities.
The Year 12 boys have been especially busy managing the university application process while moving on to the second year of study in the IB Diploma Program. Many Canadian, American and British universities have been on campus to talk to the boys about the opportunities that await following matriculation from UCC.
Senior students will receive their Ontario University Application Centre personal identification numbers (PINs) at workshops that begin after Thanksgiving weekend. Once a student receives his PIN, he’s free to apply to any of the 23 Ontario universities. Many students are also in the process of writing common application essays and supplementary essays in preparation for the early application deadline of Nov. 1 in the United States.
As you reconnect live or on Skype over the long weekend, you’ll undoubtedly hear a great deal of news about the first segment of the school year. Please don’t hesitate to connect with your son’s senior house adviser following the weekend if you have any news that you believe will help us serve the needs of your son in the days and weeks to come.
