Message from Andrew Turner, Director, Residential Life

Andrew Turner photoThe end of November and December are a whirlwind for residential students. This Friday night the Y1 and Y2 students will be in the audience to support the UCC fall play. True West is playing in the lecture theatre all weekend. On Saturday, Mr. Choptiany will be taking a group of boys off campus to a hot yoga session; we’re doing our best to help students get into a healthy routine as we head toward exams.

On Sunday, school nurse Anna Gryszkiewicz is taking a group of boys to watch Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them. We’re lucky to have so many theatre options within walking distance of campus. This weekend the varsity hockey team will host seven schools for the annual Barbara Barrow Hockey Tournament. UCC is looking to extend its winning streak of tournament victories. “Miss B” would definitely be proud of what our boys have already accomplished this season – an undefeated regular season run heading into the tournament. The varsity basketball team is in Montreal for the weekend; they’re participating in a tournament co-hosted by the Selwyn House School and Lower Canada College.

This weekend veteran admission ambassadors are getting their first real action. Boarders are currently hosting two prospective students from Academie St. Louis in Quebec City. Many boys will spend two to three night in residence over the next few months, attend classes, and join practices or club meetings. Thanks in advance to all the veteran students who are such wonderful hosts to guests from across the country and around the world. Mr. McBride is doing wonderful work getting the word out to prospect students and families seeking a glimpse of what it’s like to become part of the Wedd’s/Seaton’s family.
