Welcome to Heads Up, your one-stop source for news about your son’s upcoming activities and events.

Message from Derek Poon, head, Intermediate Division

derek poonPrior to reading my weekly message, I’d like to draw your attention to the message in Whole School about congestion and traffic on campus – an issue of serious concern at the College. Please take the time to read it and follow the directives outlined in it.

Monday, Nov. 24:  First dress required; Principal’s assembly, 8:30-9:30 a.m.; arts presentations; Laidlaw Hall
Wednesday, Nov. 26, Friday, Nov. 28 & Saturday, Nov. 29:  Fall play: Almost, Maine 7:30 p.m., Lecture Theatre

Student photos for Year 1 are scheduled on Monday, Nov. 24. The boys aren’t required to do anything other than wear first dress and attend classes as usual. I’ll coordinate and communicate the schedule with subject teachers for both grades. Proofs with the option for purchase will be sent directly to parents for consideration.

iThink, aka Integrative Thinking, will take place on Friday, Dec. 12 for all Y1 boys.  Click here for further details.

Please note there are no December exams scheduled for iDiv boys. Their classes will run as scheduled right up until the final day of term and will likely include assessments right up until the final day. Given the College’s generous holiday schedule, please avoid taking your son away any earlier than after the final day of classes is over.

First Dress: Also known as number 1 dress, is a requirement on every first day of the week from after the November long weekend until the start of warm weather dress in the spring. It honours the principal’s assembly on these days and is also required on special days throughout the school year. The following is the description of first dress in the Upper School Family Handbook, pp. 140.

– Blue blazer with the UCC crest
– Conservative white or solid light-blue dress shirt
– Grey flannels
– College or house tie
– Dark socks and polished leather shoes

Thanks for reading.
