Next week is our first-ever Spirit Week at the Upper School which leads to Association Day or homecoming. It’s an exciting new initiative of the current board of stewards to nurture school spirit in the Upper School on a very large scale. Every day next week will be a casual dress day with two specific school schedules. Please refer to the Blue Spirit Week schedule for details. Next Friday will feature the Terry Fox National School Run and the pep rally for A-Day. It promises to be a fabulous new initiative that has the potential to take school spirit to yet another level. The Blue Army generals will be large and in charge.

IDiv parents get a treat with a special guest, the world renowned, clinical child psychologist Dr. Adam Cox. (See the Whole School section of this Heads Up for a detailed bio.) After he addresses all parents on general themes next Monday evening, he’ll make an encore to address iDiv parents on Tuesday night at the Year 1/Year 2 parents information evening. In addition to a few school speakers, Dr. Cox will speak specifically about boys in the Grade 8 and Grade 9 age group and the alignment of UCC’s approaches and programs to their growth and development. Mark your calendars and come on out.

A-Day is the biggest day on the school calendar as it features athletic fixtures, arts displays, the Michael E. Jurist Tennis Memorial Tournament, the reunion dinner for Old Boys, a bouncy castle for the wee ones, live music, items for sale, food and loads more. The main event is the varsity football game on the Oval at 2 p.m. UCC is the place to be so check the listing for all game times/locations as well as other events, and come on out and get into the UCC spirit. GO BLUES!
