Tuesday, Jan. 20: Year 1 entering Year 2 course information evening; Student Centre; 7-9 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 23: Winterfest

The course information evening for boys in Year 1 entering Y2 is scheduled for next Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Centre. Come and listen to presentations on Year 2 academics and have an opportunity to ask questions as well. This is an evening geared for parents. Year 1 boys are not required to attend as they’ll receive a similar session during school in the weeks ahead. Please see the piece on course selection evenings to find out more.

The Y1 civics and media half-courses will switch over next week, as boys in civics switch to media and vice versa. The final class in each course will be on Jan. 19 or 20 and the first class in their new course will be on Jan. 21 or 22.

Winterfest is scheduled for next Friday, Jan. 23. It marks a special day in the winter athletics schedule when just about every team will play a home game. Parents, friends and relatives are invited to support our teams. The day’s highlights are the varsity basketball and varsity hockey games, with the presence of the ever-popular food truck treats not common on our grounds. Please check the athletics schedule or ask your sons for game times. It’s an event that showcases school spirit that you won’t want to miss. Go Blues!

January report cards will be sent electronically early next week. Booking SLCs (student led conferences) formally known as parent-teacher interviews will also be available shortly thereafter. Please read the accompanying piece from Dr. Kinnear, our academic dean for all the details.

The winter activity day for the iDiv is on Tuesday, Feb 3. It’s a mandatory program for all boys in Y1 and Y2 when they’ll participate in fun activities with their classmates and teachers, while the Senior Division hosts the annual World Affairs Conference at the College. Boys are required to prioritize their options from the choices offered and submit the required parental consent forms by the deadline. It’s first come, first served so getting their forms in early is important. Details of choices will be communicated soon.

Thanks for reading.
