Message from Andrew Turner, director of residential life
The month of November presents many challenges along the path to becoming resilient. I would venture to say that every boy in boarding has faced at least one personal challenge this month. The workload has been one. If your son was not flagged in the academic “red rocket” system identifying an academic deficiency, he is in the minority. Several boys experienced heart-wrenching defeat during the fall sports playoff season, and other boys didn’t make their first choice winter sports team during November tryouts.
Two weeks from Friday the IB2 students begin their December examinations. Ms. McLean and Ms. Gauthier have been busy running exam workshops and developing study plans for the boys. There’s no doubt our boarders are well supported. However, in my mind, it’s the resiliency developed after having faced adversity inside and outside the classroom that has prepared our boys for the academic, co-curricular and social-emotional challenges that lie ahead.
