Mary Gauthier to depart in June
It’s with much regret that UCC announces the departure of Mary Gauthier, executive director of the Wernham and West Centre for Learning. She will take on the exciting role of executive director of the newly established Greenwood Institute, which will focus on innovation by inspiring and encouraging curiosity and leadership in teaching. She will continue in her role at UCC until the end of the school year, to ensure a smooth transition.
Mary has been with UCC for just over 15 years, when she was brought in to head up the Centre for Learning following a $7 million donation from Richard Wernham and Julia West to establish this unique resource at the College. Under her leadership, the CFL has become a model for and leader in helping teachers develop inclusive teaching practices, and for all boys to develop their own toolkit for learning. We’re one of the few schools worldwide to offer a 100 per cent open-door support policy for all of our students.
Mary is an incredible leader — so passionate and committed to our boys and teaching. She’s a trusted colleague and friend, and although I’m thrilled about her new role at Greenwood, she will also be deeply missed. But she has established an incredible legacy and developed an expert team at the CFL, who will carry on her great work well into the future at UCC. CFL remains an important and valued resource at the College.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be determining and communicating next steps around the role at the Wernham and West Centre for Learning.
Please join me in congratulating Mary and wishing her all the best in her new role.
