Mandatory workshops for students applying to UK universities

Students who are considering applications to universities in the United Kingdom are required to attend two mandatory workshops this spring. In order to provide maximum flexibility, these sessions will be offered in two formats—Wednesday mornings or a Thursday evening.

The first session on Thursday, May 9, 6-8 p.m. in Room 140 will provide an overview of the UK university system and application process. We will discuss which students tend to be a good fit for UK schools and review the type of research required in order to pick an appropriate program and ensure a strong application. We will also focus on the characteristic of a successful personal statement. A light supper will be provided.

Students for whom Wednesday mornings are a better time should plan to attend the overview session on Wednesday, May 15 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 140 in which we will explore the UK university system and application process. We will discuss which students tend to be a good fit for UK schools and review the type of research required in order to pick an appropriate program and ensure a strong application.

The follow-up workshop on Wednesday, May 22 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 140 will focus on the characteristics of a successful personal statement.

Please register with Ms. Berndsen by Friday, May 3 if you plan to attend these workshops.

Further technical instructions concerning access to the online application form (e.g. the buzzword) will be provided in early September. You will register with UCAS (the British admission service for students applying to UK universities and colleges) through UCC; please do not register as an individual student.
