Inaugural Rao Cup Cricket match

On Sunday, September 27 Seaton’s and Wedd’s boarders participated in the inaugural Rao Cup Cricket match. While the annual Golden Stick hockey match has taken place for decades, it’s unfortunate that it took a pandemic for UCC boarders to initiate a new tradition that can raise the same level of enthusiasm as the February hockey game in the William Wilder Arena Complex. Congratulations to our Rao Cup commissioners, Matthew Wong and Patrick Szente for spearheading the idea. No doubt there will plenty more new evening and weekend entertainment ideas as we proceed further into the fall term.

Many thanks go to UCC Varsity Cricket coach, Dr. Mark Baxter, for umpiring the match and to Ms. Amina DeVries for organizing the houses and helping to ensure a safe and fun playing atmosphere.

Congratulations to Wedd’s House for winning Sunday’s match. There was plenty of great bowling, batting and fielding from both teams, but Wedd’s squeezed out a victory in a hard fought afternoon battle.
