Register for new education and speaker series for parents
The Parents’ Organization, the Prep Parents’ Organization and the College are very happy to announce a comprehensive parent information and education series starting in November and running through the year.
“It’s All About the Boys” is a varied program featuring renowned speakers, “UCCTalks” by in-house experts, book club offerings, how-to conversations and more. These sessions are tailored to the needs and interests that parents have recently expressed to the College.
Here’s a taste:
On Monday, Nov. 23 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the lounge of the William P. Wilder ’40 Arena & Sports Complex and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Wernham West Centre for Learning (CFL) on the second floor of the Upper School, CFL director Mary Gauthier will lead a discussion on the book Learning: How to Raise an Adult by Julie Lythcott Haims. Read the book and come and discuss it with fellow parents and faculty members. This event is suitable for all parents. Please email Julia Rosefield at email@example.com and confirm which time you will attend.
Dr. Alyson Schafer will lead a family talk about drinking on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. in Weston Hall. It will provide insights and helpful information for parents navigating these difficult waters with adolescent children. The session is suitable for parents of boys in Middle, Intermediate and Senior divisions.
UCC information technology director Jim Laplante will talk about “Unplugging Our Kids” in the first “UCCTalk” on Monday, Nov. 30 at 8 a.m. in a still to be determined location. This 20-minute presentation will be modeled after the TEd Talks concept, videotaped and posted on the College’s YouTube channel. This will be a great information grab before you head off to work. The event is suitable for all parents.
