Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) runs Jan. 17 to Jan. 19

Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) is a Governor General’s Award-winning play by celebrated playwright, novelist and stage-actor Ann Marie MacDonald.

This play looks to its protagonist, a brilliant but shy academic of everything Shakespeare. At the moment she is about to give up on her thesis, Constance Ledbelly magically falls into the worlds of the two plays she loves the most: Romeo & Juliet and Othello. Like Alice falling into Wonderland, Constance meets hilarious and colourful characters and finds out that the world of Shakespeare’s characters is not quite what she thought. In searching for the evidence needed for her thesis, she inadvertently discovers that which she needs most of all: her voice.

This hilarious comedy dives into ideas about identity, voice, power and Shakespeare. #GND(GMJ) will be on stage Jan. 17 to 19 at 7 p.m. in the Upper Theatre, The Bishop Strachan School.

Tickets are available online for purchase at www.bss.on.ca/goodnight or will be sold in person at lunchtime the week of the show and at the door. Please note that due to mature themes we suggest that only audience members 12+ attend the production.

This performances showcases work from actors and technicians from Grades 9-12 from BSS and UCC.  Tickets are $10. Audiences are asked to enter the school via the Russell Hill Atrium and sign in with security. Each show will be followed by a talk-back with the company. If challenges come up during the ticket process, contact Brendon Allen (ballen@bss.on.ca)
