Golden Stick hockey game
One of the longest standing traditions in the boarding community is the Golden Stick hockey game that sees Seaton’s and Wedd’s square off in an epic battle in March.
There’s no point on the school calendar where house spirit is demonstrated to be any stronger than during the Golden Stick game. All skaters in both houses should be very proud of their performance.
The outcome on the scoreboard is an important piece of the puzzle when determining who will win the Rao Cup, but it isn’t the most impressive part of the event. Congratulations goes to every boy who had the courage to step on the ice and compete. Several of these boys didn’t skate before arriving at UCC; some come from countries that don’t have a hockey tradition.
Thanks to the senior house advisers for providing a well-deserved snack at the end of the event.
