Get tickets for debate featuring rival MPs and UCC students
Watching debates, especially amazing student debaters, is entertaining and provides an extremely impressive display of wit and intellect.
The UCC community is invited to purchase tickets for Speech and Debate Canada’s debate on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at UCC.
The debate will feature New Democratic Party MP Erin Weir and Conservative MP Garnett Genius squaring off against two student debaters, including UCC’s Matthew Wang. The resolution to be debated will be “This house regrets the culture of connectivity.”
Despite their differing political camps, “Weir and Genius are coming together for this event because they both believe in the value of giving high school students access to debate,” says Speech and Debate Canada program director Sarah Sahagian.
Get your tickets here. All proceeds will go to Speech and Debate Canada, which is dedicated to bringing debate clubs to public schools in Canada. Questions and concerns can be addressed to Sarah Sahagian at firstname.lastname@example.org.
