FY to IB1 parents: Summer French programs

Students from across Canada, the United States and overseas come to study and have fun during the summer session from Sunday, July 2 to Saturday, Aug. 5 at Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia.

A well-trained, professional staff of teachers and counselors ensure a pleasant learning experience. Activities include theme nights, excursions, whale-watching expeditions, canoeing and golf — all in French, of course. Students attend two formal classes (for six university credits) in the morning, have a workshop in the afternoon, and activities are planned for the remainder of the day and the weekend. Students must be at least 15 years old to enroll. A one-week program is also available. Additional information is available here.

The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a unique national exchange program that brings together youth from various communities across Canada. Participating youth, aged 16 and 17, have the opportunity to improve their second official language skills and gain important employment experience through a work placement while on their exchange. Students spend six weeks with a host family in another part of Canada. The first priority application deadline is Wednesday, March 15.  All applicants who apply by this date will be contacted before May 1. Go here for more information.
