Form 5 PYP Exhibition update
As you know, Form 5 is the last year of the Primary Years Programme at Upper Canada College and, as such, Form 5 students engage in the PYP Exhibition, a collaborative, student-directed, research-based, action-oriented culminating activity of the program. Students lead their own inquiry in the spring term. We celebrate the completion of the PYP Exhibition with our community, including parents, on May 8, 2015. More information will be forthcoming in the new year.
You should know that the boys in Form 5 have begun talking about the PYP Exhibition and we expect some conversations will continue at home. We are encouraging boys to take interest in the news which will feature current and local issues. In a previous Exhibition period, boys had access to teachingkidsnews.com, a kid-friendly news site that you may wish to access at home.
During this week’s exhibition period we began talking about news which was interesting, as compared to news which connected to an issue. Boys began thinking about issues that they care about and identified why they care. They began recording some ideas about issues or topics to which they felt some connection. From these rich classroom discussions we hope boys will create a bank of possible topics to explore for their exhibition project.
Parents should know that we will host a parent session about Exhibition in the new year. In the meantime, feel free to direct any questions about the PYP Exhibition to Dianne Jojic email@example.com
We hope that you will enjoy your rich pre-exhibition conversations at home.
