Form 4: Message from the French teachers
Dear Form 4 parent(s),
Our names are Peter Labancz and Guillaume Dupré and we’re delighted to be your son’s French Teacher. We’d like to provide you with information about the Form 4 French program for this year. The goal of the French program is to foster a positive attitude towards French language instruction and to meet students’ needs and learning styles by providing an open, dynamic, energetic and balanced program.
Throughout the year, we’ll gradually introduce students to new language patterns and vocabulary by exploring three Units of Inquiry. Through these connections, students will practice their oral, listening comprehension, reading and writing skills. They’ll gain greater confidence expressing themselves creatively with a reduced support of gestures. Students will also work on a comprehensive reading program using a variety of texts, as well as technology to practice, improve and demonstrate their skills. Writing is integrated into all aspects of the program. This is designed to ensure autonomy, as well as to prepare the students for a smooth transition into the Form 5 French program. Please note that no regular homework is assigned in Form 4.
In order to do well in French, your son is encouraged to:
– Participate actively and only speak French in class
– Learn the words and gestures covered in class
– Work co-operatively in small groups
– Seek help when needed
Mr. Labancz will be available for extra help Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. His class is located on the second floor of the Parkin Building (P245). Mr. Dupré won’t be available for extra help on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. His office is next to the conference room in the Parkin Building.
We look forward to a fun and rewarding year with your son.
