Faces of Change
On MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8th, we will begin our fundraising for UCC’s initiative to sponsor a refugee family to come to Toronto. We need to raise $50,000.00 to cover the cost of sponsoring a family for one year.
WHAT ARE FACES OF CHANGE?
We are calling our Prep fundraising effort “Faces of Change”. We want to help the boys develop empathy for refugees, while understanding that they themselves can create a positive change in this humanitarian crisis.
HOW ARE WE RAISING THE FUNDS?
It is our goal that every student and staff at UCC contributes $40 to $50. While we appreciate more generous donations, we want this effort to be community-wide.
Rather than just ask for money, we wanted all the students and teachers at the Prep to be actively involved in the fundraising. All students will be collecting pledges for various actions.
In SK to 4, the boys will be collecting pledges for their personal reading.
In grade 5, 6 and 7, the boys will be collecting pledges for keeping a gratitude journal.
UCC teachers and staff have been encouraged to either join a student fundraising effort, or create their own personal goal to collect pledges for.
MAKING A DONATION
We are encouraging the boys to ask family and friends for pledges. The pledges can be collected in cash, cheque or online donations. All the boys will receive a donation envelope next week.
Cheques should be made to UCC Refugee Sponsorship Group.
Cash can be collected in your son’s donation envelope.
Online donations can be made at www.ucc.on.ca/refugeefund.
The UCC Refugee Sponsorship Group is not a registered charity, so donations are not tax deductible.
