Earth Week | April 19 – 23
This year for Earth Week at The Prep we are working in collaboration with the school to host a couple of recycling-minded events. As we are now celebrating Earth Week at home we have a number of ideas to share with parents to mark Earth Week together with their children.
In support of the Children’s Book Bank, an organization that promotes the idea of re-use and recycling, we are having a small book drive. They are having a collection on Saturday, April 24 from11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at their location of 350 Berkeley St in downtown Toronto. Have your child help you to carry all the books, to show them what the Book Bank is all about. Donating and re-using books is a key part of community support and the spirit of Earth Week.
One Piece A Day is a locally based organization that is helping clean up the planet one piece of trash at a time. Have a look at their story and what they are doing to teach kids about how they can make a difference in their community. They also have a really cool app you can download to track cleanup efforts!
When we return to campus we will have packets of tomato seeds for each of the students to bring home to plant.
Happy Earth Day!
