Don’t put away those summer clothes just yet!
We are only a few days into the clothing drive, and already our first box is bursting! A new box was placed in the lounge today.
Our first major community service project this year is the summer clothing drive for Camp Maple Leaf. The Camp, located in the Kawarthas, serves children from military families, as well children with unique challenges. From October 2 – 17, boxes will be set up at the Prep to receive clothing donations.
Children who attend Camp Maple Leaf often arrive at camp without the requisite clothing needed for their week-long stay. This shortfall includes children from under-resourced families. I visited the camp during the summer to witness personally what a special place this camp is. This camp has a wide variety of activities, and a staff full of energy and care.
The camp is in need of all summer clothing in good, clean condition. Please wash and fold clothing to be donated, but no need to sort. The community service leaders will take care of that. Girls’ clothing is needed as well. There is also a need for water shoes of all sizes!
Take a look at this video the boys watched at an assembly earlier in the year.
For more information about Camp Maple Leaf, feel free to view their website.
I hope you visited the Camp’s Booth on A-Day, and were able to get some candy floss from Project Dorothy. The Community Service club did a fantastic job of running the booth for the day with Camp Director, Calypso.
Thank you very much for supporting this wonderful cause. You can be assured your clothing donations will go directly to the children who will use them.
