Cultural dinner: boarders dine at Dim Sum King
On Friday, September 27, 21 boarding students traveled by subway and streetcar to Dim Sum King Restaurant on Dundas Street West. The restaurant is located in the heart of Chinatown, just over 4km from campus; Beijing Duck is one specialty, but the opportunity to test a variety of Dim Sum including shrimp dumpling, BBQ pork bun, pan fried chives and seafood pancake was a draw for the boys in Seaton’s and Wedd’s.
Toronto is often described as a city of culturally distinct neighbourhoods. Over the course of the school year boarders will have an opportunity to visit several more restaurants. Little Italy and the Greek community on the Danforth may be next on the list; both areas are close to UCC and easily accessible on the TTC. The goal is to expose the boys to as much of the city as possible, knowing they will return to these areas in smaller groups over the course of the school year.
