Cross-country team’s boarding members come from around the world

UCC’s cross-country team has always been a popular fall sports team for UCC boarders. Some new boarders do not have experience playing traditional sports such as football and volleyball. Many new boarders have a running background, and they are drawn by the fact that Seaton’s Associate House Adviser Mr. David Crawford is the coach. This year new Wedd’s Associate House Adviser Ms. Adelaide Backer has joined Mr. Crawford as a cross-country coach.

In the first race of the season, the cross-country team travelled to neighbouring Crescent School for an afternoon event. This week our team is driving two hours north of Toronto to compete in an event at Lakefield College School. I would be remiss if I did not add that several boarders are on the UCC cross-country development team. These students do not yet have enough experience to compete at events like those being hosted by Lakefield College and Crescent School. These students train with the team after school on weekdays, and when coaches Crawford and Backer believe they are ready for competition, they will also be travelling around southern Ontario during the fall season.
